The Inter-Mountain Fair is the official county fair for Shasta County, California. It is described as an “old-fashioned country fair” and has been a local tradition since 1918. The fair takes place every Labor Day weekend in McArthur, California, located in the northeastern corner of Shasta County. It is held at the McArthur Fairgrounds, which is a short distance north of Highway 299.

One of the Inter-Mountain Fair’s most popular events is the Bill Hovis Demolition Derby. Organized and ran by the Burney Lions Club the Derby has entertained and delighted people for generations. Held on a Sunday night of the Inter-Mountain Fair you can get tickets for specific seats in the grandstand or open seating in the bleachers.
